Ancient Pottery Demonstrations
I present ancient pottery demonstrations at Museums and Heritage Sites throughout the UK.  My demonstrations are delivered in an entertaining and informative way, packed with information about the pots and their place in their parent culture but with lots to make the audience smile.

Demonstrations can be tailored to any age group and can be presented as an illustrated lecture, for those with a more academic level of interest or those working towards a formal qualification.  Sessions can consist of a mixture of demonstration and hands-on workshop.  These can be presented to a single group booked in for the full session or can be presented to passing crowds or drop in groups as part of a larger event.  Ancient pottery workshops are ideal for living history and heritage events.

The pottery techniques I can demonstrate include:
Clay prospecting & preparation
Tool and ceramic equipment making
Kiln building and firing
Prehistoric hand and coil making
Prehistoric open firing
Roman wheel thrown pottery
Roman Samian & Barbotine pottery
Roman mould made ceramics
Early Anglo-Saxon handmade pottery
Late Saxon & Medieval wheel throwing
and much more

I have delivered demonstrations and workshops covering other time periods and cultures including; Ancient Egyptian, Ancient Greek, African, Oriental, Post Mediaeval British pottery and modern studio pottery.
